Auxanō Series

"...we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ.”

Auxanō Series

The leaders at Calvary Chapel Mercer County long for all of us to not only be saved, but to be constantly growing in Christ. Salvation is not a one time occurrence, but rather the beginning of growth as it says in Ephesians 4:15 (“Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ”).

Auxanō means “to cause to grow” and we know that God causes the growth but at the same time, we need to consistently put ourselves in a place that God will grow us in faith and knowledge.

In response to this life that God calls us to, we will be starting a new endeavor that includes a class at least 4 times per year that will help us to grow deeper in various topics and areas of our Christian life. The classes will be 4-6 weeks long and will meet at different times to allow different people to join based on schedules. We know that everyone may not be able to attend each of the courses, but we would challenge that within 1 year, all of us would attend at least one of the courses as we seek to continue growing in Christ together. The course list is as follows for the remaining of 2023:

Conflict Resolution / Peacemaker

April 22 - May 13 | Saturday mornings from 9:00 -10:15 (Bagels and coffee)

The counterculture ways of Christ are true in conflict too. No matter what race or country we come from, none of us is naturally inclined to obey Jesus’ commands to love our enemies, confess our wrongs, gently correct others, and forgive those who hurt us. In fact, left to our own devices, we are disposed to do just the opposite. Fortunately, God has provided a way for us to overcome our weakness so that we may use conflict as an opportunity for personal growth, supernatural unity and glorifying God. These four weeks will build (or refresh) our framework for what it means to be a peacemaker in the kingdom of God.

Spiritual Gifts

October 22 – November 19 | After Church

Scripture teaches us that Jesus told his disciples that He would provide a “Helper” to guide and teach them after He returned to His Father (John 14). That Helper is His Holy Spirit who is given to all those that have received the gift of salvation through Christ (Acts 2). Scripture also teaches us that all who have received the Holy Spirit are given various spiritual gifts to support the church and each other (1 Cor 12). During this 4 week course we will review these gifts and look to identify our personal gifts and determine how they can and should be used to glorify God and draw others to Him.
