American Red Cross Blood Drive

Calvary Chapel of Mercer County American Red Cross Blood Drive

Thursday, May 2nd | 9:00 am - 2:00 pm

On Thursday, May 2nd, 2024, Calvary Chapel Mercer County will be hosting a blood drive sponsored by the American Red Cross. Because of the Covid-19 virus, numerous blood drives have been canceled, and there is a severe blood shortage. We hope to help meet this need by scheduling donors between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm. Will you consider giving to this critical cause? If so, click on the link in the flyer below to schedule your appointment. You may either donate a pint of blood or sit for plasmapheresis where your blood will be taken from one arm, the red blood cells removed and the remaining blood product given back to you via a tube in your other arm. This is an excellent way to donate blood, as double the amount of important red blood cells are collected. Typical blood donation takes approximately 15 minutes while plasmapheresis takes an additional 30 minutes.

Red Cross will routinely screen for COVID-19 antibodies. Red Cross donors can expect to receive the results of their antibody test within 7 to 10 days through the Red Cross Donor App or on our donor portal at RedCrossBlood.org - Click Here: Red Cross COVID-19 Antibody Testing.

Please note: The American Red Cross blood drives are considered essential services. The Red Cross is allowed to operate blood drives during the crisis, and are taking additional steps in accordance with the CDC guidelines to ensure Social Distancing and Safety Precautions. The American Red Cross has the support of the Surgeon General, the CDC and the FDA as indicated on the attachments.

When there is a need, our church has traditionally stepped in to fill that need. Will you please do so again? If you have any questions, please use the form at the bottom of this page.

Please bring picture identification and remember to eat a healthy breakfast and drink a lot of fluids before donating!
